PB-05E (Uses only dynamic mics)
The “economy” version has the same performance of the "Pro" models with a couple of changes to make it economy. Less circuitry less cost. It is made of the same material, looks the same but it works only with dynamic mics, SM-58’s and the like. Instead of a bypass switch built in, it uses the mixing board’s phantom power to by-pass the unit. The distance trim pot only turns 270 degrees, please do not over rotate.

The PB-05 is an automatic microphone gate and is based on the latest IR optical technology.
The PB-05 is inserted between a microphone and the xlr mic cable. It's equipped with an infrared sensor. The PB-05 senses if someone is in front of the microphone and will switch on the microphone. The microphone will be switched off automatically if no one is in front of it. The distance can be adjusted between 2 inches and 4 feet with the help of the trim pot and a small screwdriver. The singer will see a red status LED indicating that the microphone is switched on. The PB-05 is powered by 48 Volt phantom power from the mixing console. Condenser or Dynamic microphones can be used with the PB-05M and PB-05D. On these two units a small push button on the top allows the user to toggle between "Mic always On" and "Optogate Enable".
The PB-05 is ideal for lead and back-up Vocals, Acoustical instruments and Talk-Back mics. Optogate products are by far the best and easiest solution for the most common problems in live audio applications. It eliminates unwanted background noise of other instruments, like drums and guitar amps into unused open microphones on stage. The clarity of the mix and the dynamics are increased due to less phase cancellation between other open mics and stage background noise. It also reduces the possibility of Feedback from unused open mics!
